Fundraiser in Support of Ukraine

Mr. Jenson: — Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Pastor Paul Morgun has childhood friends and family back home in Ukraine who need help. Without fuel and food it can be a challenge to get refugees out as quickly as possible.

Mr. Speaker, there are countless other stories just like that that highlight how Ukraine needs our help, and in times like these it’s encouraging to see that Saskatchewan people are doing their part to provide whatever support they can.

On Saturday I had the pleasure of joining a few of my colleagues from Saskatoon at a fundraiser to flip burgers and raise funds for Ukraine at the Preston Crossing Canadian Tire store. This fundraiser, organized and hosted by Robin Bellamy, was a big success, and I’d like to take a moment to acknowledge and thank everyone for their generous support on the weekend.

Mr. Speaker, more than 340 burgers and 100 hot dogs were served up raising a total of $3,473.82. Robin tells me that he has hosted hundreds of these fundraisers for different organizations over the years, Mr. Speaker, and he says right now anything we can do for Ukraine we should do for Ukraine. And, Mr. Speaker, I agree.

And I encourage all members of this Assembly to keep looking for ways to help the people of Ukraine in their own communities. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
