Saskatchewan continues to build on its strong economic momentum as new data highlights growth across key sectors of our provincial economy. Recent Statistics Canada figures show Saskatchewan's retail trade increased by 2.9 per cent from April to May 2026, ranking first among provinces for month-over-month growth. This growth reflects confidence in Saskatchewan businesses and communities, creating jobs and opportunities while helping sustain the programs and services that residents depend on.

Building on that success, Saskatchewan is also seeing strong results in international trade. Statistics Canada reports that merchandise exports increased by 11.6 per cent during the first six months of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. This ranks Saskatchewan second among provinces for year-to-date export growth. International exports totaled $24.4 billion from January to June, demonstrating the strength of our producers, manufacturers and exporters in markets around the world. These results reflect the success of Saskatchewan businesses and the efforts of Premier Scott Moe and our ministers who continue to lead trade missions and build relationships with international partners. By expanding access to global markets, we are helping attract investment, create more jobs and showcase Saskatchewan as a reliable supplier the world can count on.

Supporting a growing province also means strengthening access to health care. Saskatchewan's Health Human Resources Action Plan continues to deliver results through the efforts of the Saskatchewan Healthcare Recruitment Agency, Saskatchewan Health Authority and Saskatchewan Cancer Agency. Since 2022, more than 7,500 doctors, nurses and other health care professionals have joined Saskatchewan's health care system. These recruitment and retention efforts are helping ensure patients receive the right care in the right place at the right time.

Alongside health workforce growth, our government continues to improve access to innovative medical treatments. As of August 1, Saskatchewan residents living with cystic fibrosis who meet medical criteria are eligible for coverage of Alyftrek. This medication improves lung function and expands treatment options. With the addition of Alyftrek, more than 95 per cent of eligible Saskatchewan patients are now candidates for effective therapy.

Helping Saskatchewan residents access affordable housing remains another important priority. As of July 1, more than 5,000 households are receiving increased support through the Saskatchewan Housing Benefit. The 2026-27 Provincial Budget invested $3.2 million to increase monthly benefits for low- and moderate-income households, individuals living in supportive housing and those seeking safety from interpersonal violence. These enhancements strengthen housing stability and help more residents access safe and affordable housing.

At the same time, investments continue to make Saskatchewan communities safer. Through the Provincial Traffic Safety Fund, 67 projects in 66 communities will receive more than $1.67 million in grants for local traffic safety improvements. Since 2019, proceeds from photo speed enforcement have supported over 1,000 projects across Saskatchewan. These investments help municipalities and First Nations improve safety for drivers, pedestrians and families throughout the province. Communities looking to advance their own traffic safety initiatives can now apply for the next intake of funding, with applications being accepted until September 30, 2026. Infrastructure improvements are also helping keep Saskatchewan connected and competitive. This construction season, more than $77 million in recent, ongoing and planned transportation projects are underway in the Prince Albert region and northern Saskatchewan. These investments support safe travel, strengthen trade corridors and contribute to Saskatchewan's export-based economy. Drivers are encouraged to check the Highway Hotline before travelling for current road conditions and construction updates.

Looking ahead to the fall season, Saskatchewan residents and visitors can once again enjoy world-class hunting opportunities across our province. Hunting continues to play an important role in Saskatchewan's outdoor heritage while supporting local tourism and conservation efforts. Whether experienced hunters or newcomers to the sport, everyone is encouraged to plan ahead, follow regulations and help preserve wildlife populations for future generations.
